This started as an experiment to write ten poems a day. That clearly didn't last, but I'll still put up some words from time to time.

Some I will mean, and some I won't. None of these are finished. This is me, trying.

1.
Here come the pumpkins
skeletons, ghosts and goblins
It is a wonder that we celebrate
what’s twisted and ugly
When we revile it
every other day of the year.

2.
9:33 p.m.
Lit up in white
you define the night.

3.
Stacks upon stacks
upon piles next to bunches.
So many books
and I’m not getting any smarter.

4.
Sometimes inaction
is the only action I can muster.

5.
The way you held me just now-
Keep holding on like that
whisper in my ear that you believe
and maybe I’ll begin to believe too.

6.
Today, we talk
about what was important yesterday
and what will be useful tomorrow.
Today is never about the moment,
but relies on the assumption that
we are borrowing from both the past and present
to create the now.

7.
12:01 a.m.
Dark and unlit
your silhouette is hid.

8.
There is a trail we leave
littered with the refuse
of a thousand tiny misjudgments.

9.
Every day you convict me
with the judging eyes
and the asking lips
of the unlovable masses
a hand jingling coins
asks for more music-making money
a foreign tongue speaks
and I can understand the desperate plea
We are hungry
for what we cannot get from one another
We are scraping and clawing
for what we will not give
and I am no better than the beggar
as I writhe at your feet
willing you to do your will
as I would have it willed
