Poetic License RSS

This started as an experiment to write ten poems a day. That clearly didn't last, but I'll still put up some words from time to time.

Some I will mean, and some I won't. None of these are finished. This is me, trying.

Vision

I see you see me

see through me

in the empty spaces where people stand

shoulder to hand and try to breathe a little more deeply

I see you see me

see you through their eyes

so I try to come down a bit and land

It’s hard not to fall for you

when I’m already halfway down

Opposition

In plenty and in want

I want to want you

near me always

But it’s so easy to forget

when you get generous

maybe I should try

to want a little less

Barbounia

Sitting at the bar and it’s a revelation

just how far we’ve come

Two glasses deep into the night

I won’t get any sleep after this

but that’s alright.

Just talking feels like opening up

old wounds that need to bleed

in order to heal.

A Six Train at Seven PM

I just passed by 100 people

or did they just pass by me?

No bother either way

the world seems silent and still

from a post-rush hour local train

It’s like everything is sliding by underwater

In slow motion each face is etched and empty

All the eyes stare out blankly

I am one of them

I am no one to them
